Spirito di Vino: after 19 years the satire is still biting!
The winners will be announced on Saturday 10th November and the exhibition will be inaugurated in the prestigious setting of Villa Manin
Udine, 5 November 2018 – On Saturday 10 November at 11:00 in the Exhibition Hall, Esedra di Levante, at Villa Manin, the members of the jury and the authorities present will announce the winners of the 19th edition of the Spirito di Vino international satirical cartoon competition, organized annually by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia. The choice to entrust a message about wine to the biting expression of satire is what has always distinguished this competition: an original and captivating challenge launched every year throughout the world, in which the theme of wine reveals itself as a cultural element capable of being an infinite inspiration for new creations.
Over the past 19 years, Spirito di Vino has become a point of reference for aspiring cartoonists and established professionals, acquiring an increasingly broader scope and collecting over 9,000 cartoons from over 50 countries around the world.
The arduous task of selecting the works for the final phase and decreeing the winners was carried out by an exceptional jury, led by the president in office Alfio Krancic and the honorary president Giorgio Forattini, by the cartoonists Emilio Giannelli and Valerio Marini and by illustrious names in journalism and graphics such as Gianluigi Colin, Franz Botré, Carlo Cambi, Paolo Marchi, Aldo Colonetti, Fede & Tinto, Francesco Salvi and Elda Felluga (President of the Movimento Turismo del Vino FVG). The members of the jury met in Milan at the Sala della Satira inside the Rigolo Restaurant, a historic venue near the Corriere della Sera, where some of the most beautiful cartoons of Spirito di Vino are exhibited.
To celebrate such an important milestone, this year the awards ceremony and the exhibition will be held in the prestigious setting of Villa Manin, thanks to the hospitality of ERPAC – Regional Agency for Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Until January 6, 2019 (Tuesday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) the Exhibition Hall of the Villa will host the exhibition of the 19th edition of Spirito di Vino, where you can appreciate the biting humor and scathing satire capable of giving you smiles and moments of reflection.
We remind you that on the same weekend, Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 November, Cantine Aperte a San Martino will take place, the autumn event dedicated to visits and tastings in the cellars that involves over 30 companies throughout the region.
We would like to thank the sponsors and technical partners of the competition: PromoTurimoFVG, ERPAC, Academy of Fine Arts of Udine “GB Tiepolo”, Civibank, Dolomia, Del Torre and Juliagraf.
